The layoffs are not stopping
According to Layoffs.fyi, 50,312 employees from 209 tech companies have lost their job since Jan 1st
That’s around 653 per day!
And the Marketing and Ops teams are sadly affected by this situation.
If I were back on the job hunt today, here are the 3 skills I'd focus on to not just survive, but thrive:
1️⃣ Automation & prioritisation
Teams are shrinking, but the number of tasks is rising. To keep pace, automation is going to be a game-changer, allowing you to focus on what really matters while moving much more quickly on your lower added value tasks.
2️⃣ Data analytics and visualisation
It's March 2024, but some teams are still making decisions based on their manager's gut feeling or by copying the competition. Don't get me wrong, your intuition will certainly make the difference, but you can no longer make decisions without relying on data based on your persona and previous campaigns.
3️⃣ Empathy
I wasn’t sure how to call this one. But it’s time to break the silos and talk to other people. It can be the other teams in your company to be sure that you are aligned, your clients to understand what they really want or your partners to build new products together!
Why these skills and not others? I could have listed dozens of so-called hard skills, but I don't think they'll help you thrive. What will get you the ideal job is learning how to swim and move smarter, the rest will follow 💪
Any other skills I could have added?
